The Fallen American Hero

I want to talk about the essence of the American Hero; John F. Kennedy, for instance, or Martin Luther King, Jr, both Fallen American Heroes. For our purposes here, I only want to single out those few undisputable, full fledged, certified authentic American Hero's. This is the list of American Hero's, in fact, it is easier to make this list if you are no longer alive in order to apply. This is to be the list of martyrs and near martyrs to the cause of all that is America. This is the list of Fallen American Heroes, if you can step forward to apply, by definition you may not qualify.

Certainly this is not to limit honoring American heroes only to those killed in action. If you can step forward on an artificial leg, and you risked your life for your country, but did not have to give up your life at that time, more power to you, you are certainly no less a hero for being alive. You lost a limb for your country, you stood and stared into the face of death to defend America. You are truly a hero. You may have suffered more personal turmoil than your counterpart, who was killed on the spot. Our list, however, is simply more easily defined by the act of risking one's life, and then either losing it, or being in some way wounded or harmed while defending that which is America and American. If one is on our list their lives have been altered in some fundamental way. The finality of having paid the ultimate price, or being wounded, we would argue, qualifies one for the A-list regardless of actual circumstances at the time. Similarly, the loss of a limb or being wounded in action eliminates the ability to just go home and resume one's normal life. So for our purposes here, the Fallen American Hero is defined as, "that American who has dedicated himself and subsequently martyred or suffered significant physical loss to himself defending the cause of that which is American."

We make these distinctions in order to be able to narrow our list and to immediately eliminate discussion as to who belongs there. It is significantly fewer than the full list of American Heroes, but more easily defined and unarguably more deserving. At a time in our history when the media has proven they can cast doubt and disrespect on anyone alive, even they may be reticent to go out of their way to disrespect the Fallen American Hero. Our list can be divided into three main categories. There is The List of Fallen American War Heroes, those brave and unstoppable military heroes who have protected our country from aggression and enemies from abroad. There is The List of Fallen American Police and Law Enforcement Personnel, who have been killed or hurt in the line of duty while upholding and enforcing the laws of our great nation and there is The List of Fallen American Fire Fighters, who have lost their lives or been hurt protecting us from the ravages of fire, flood or other natural or manmade disasters. This site, and all that is contained here, is simply to honor these Heroes.
